Maplexine coatings

Tetraco Maplexine textured coatings are ready mixed acrylic coatings. They provide the unique combination of a quality architectural finish with outstanding economy through ease of application and surface durability. Tetraco Maplexine textured coatings are guaranteed against peeling and fading, they adhere to most exterior surfaces including plywood, chipboard, anti-rust primed steel, gypsum and dry wall. Priming is not required.

Maplexine textured coatings are developed for use in areas of extreme climatic conditions such as the tropics, where high humidity is prevalent.

Properties

Maplexine textured coatings are formulated from 3 different levels of crushed and precisely graded fillers, lime stones, pure acrylic binders and additives which give them elastic properties, long life and durability against color fading and pollution. To cope with a wide scope of engineering and architectural demands Maplexine textured coatings are manufactured in a wide variety of colors.

Areas of use

Maplexine textured coatings are primarily designed for exterior facades and surfaces of buildings such as commercial and industrial complexes, office projects, factories, hospitals and housing developments. It gives a decorative finish to concrete walls, pillars, columns, etc. It can also be used on surfaces of concrete, cement, rendering, lightweight concrete, stonework, brickwork, block wood, plywood, anti-rust primed steel and galvanized steel. The coatings perform equally well on interior surfaces of gypsum, dry wall and chipboard.

Preparation of surface

Ensure that all dust, durt and foreign matter is brushed and scraped away. Also ensure the surface is free from salt, oils, grease and ridges, and protect all adjacent surfaces not to be covered. All cracks, chips, voids and damages should be repaired. Tetraco Acrylic Filler is recommended.

Before applying Maplexine textured coatings to old surfaces, ensure the substrate is firm. First wash down the surface with soda/water solution, rinse and allow to dry before repairing or applying the first coat.

Priming

Priming of new work is not necessary but in order to stabilize a surface which shows signs of dusting or flaking, the use of Tetraco Tetrabond in the ratio of 1 volume Tetrabond/3 volume water is recommended.
