TETRAFIX
Tile adhesive in powder form
Tetrafix is a versatile, easy to apply adhesive for the mounting and laying of tiles, marble, ceramic, mosaics, stone, granite and clinkers. It is suitable for use on walls and floors of concrete, lightweight concrete and plaster for both exterior and interior surfaces (kitchens, bathrooms...). Tetrafix can also be used in swimming pools, laboratories, domes, halls, cold stores...
Tetrafix is frost-proof and resistant to high temperatures, so is ideal for both hot and cold climates. It is hydraulically and organically bound, guaranteeing good adhesion of the tiles to the surface.
Preparation of surface
Ensure the surface to be covered is clean and free of foreign matter. Absorbent and porous substrates should be wetted thoroughly with water prior to the application of Tetrafix.
Bonding
Under extreme conditions the standard code of practice for the use of cementitious products should be followed. Priming and / or the addition of the concentrated Tetrabond bonding agent to the mixing water in the ratio of 1/5 is recommended.
Mixing
Add 5-6 liters of water to 20kg of Tetrafix and mix thoroughly in a high speed mixer or with a hand agitator for 3 minutes to a thick and creamy consistency. Let to set for 15 minutes, re-stir, and apply.
Application
Apply Tetrafix in a layer approximately 3mm thick to the surface with the smooth side of a notched trowel. Ensure the thickness of Tetrafix conforms with the weight of the tile. Pull the trowel through the applied layer with the notched edge. Push and twist the tiles into place so that full adherence is obtained. Do not apply adhesive to an area which is so large that the tiles cannot be fixed within 30 minutes. Prepared adhesive must be used within 2 hours.
Spacing of joints
To ensure even spacing, tile spacing string / or tile spacers of the required thickness are recommended.
Cleaning of tiles
Before setting, remove excess adhesive from the face of the tiles with a wet sponge.
Grouting
Refer to Tgrout product data sheet for details
Expansion joints
Expansion joints, when necessary, should be incorporated in the design stage.
