EPOXY SOLVENT BASED 2K – ESB 111M
Gloss metal paint that provides outstanding adhesion, toughness, durability and has a long life when exposed to aggressive environments, with excellent resistance to chemicals and polluted atmospheres.
TETRACO ESB-111M dries to an ultra-hard durable finish and is suitable for industrial environments where heavy activity is present, factories, workshops, food & beverages process units and industrial warehouses.
Gloss Level: full gloss
Properties
- Excellent hydrophobicity
- Excellent hiding power
- Excellent levelling
- Excellent durability
- Excellent chemical resistance
- Excellent abrasion resistance
- Good dry and wet adhesion
Preparation of surface
Metal surface should be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease and other contaminates. All surfaces to be coated should be dry.
Previously Painted surfaces - Apply two full coats. As with all coating applications, suitable pre-treatment of the surface is vital. Previously painted surfaces with excessive flaking and displaying signs of uncured coatings should have the old coating completely removed. Where the coating appears sound, it is always advisable to check for suitability by undertaking small-scale trials. If the old paint is satisfactory, manually or machine clean with strong detergent and abrade the surface in the normal way.
Heavily Contaminated surfaces – TETRACO SB EPOXY ESB-111M will not adhere satisfactorily to heavy deposits of grease, oil etc. It will be necessary to mechanically clean and abrade the surface to remove the excess contamination.
New Uncoated Surfaces - For optimum performance, three coats should be applied. The first coat (primer) should be thinned 20%-25% using Epoxy Thinner. This should be followed by two full coats thinned upon the thickness required. It is important to allow the coating to dry for 8 hours between coats.
Application
- Dilute first coat/primer up to 25% Thinner
- Dilute second coat up to 15% Thinner and apply 8 hours after first coat/primer
- Apply by brush, roller or spray
- It is highly recommended to protect the painted surface for 8 days before being exposed to chemicals, pollutants and mechanical stress (in order to obtain extreme hardness)
Recommendation
- After mixing the two packages let-down the mix for 10 minutes to accelerate the chemical reaction
- Mixed quantities should be coated within two hours
- Good ventilation is essential throughout. This will assist drying and curing. Heavy exposure should be avoided for at least 8 Days
- Surface can be over coated after 8 hours, and up to 10 days, after this period the inter-coat adhesion may be impaired. Once full cure is achieved, typically after a period of approx. 8 days, sanding will be required to achieve inter-coat adhesion.
CAUTION
- Avoid contact with the skin and eyes
- Wear suitable protective clothing, goggles, dust mask and gloves
- Ensure good ventilation during application
- Keep away from children’s reach
